HENGQIN, China – December 15, 2024 – Newland UIMG Technology Co., Ltd. (Guangdong), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Newland AIDC, commenced operations today in Hengqin, Zhuhai. The inauguration was attended by officials from the Hengqin-Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau, China Construction Bank executives, and industry partners.
The launch marks a strategic expansion for Newland Sci-Tech Group’s AIDC division, reinforcing its commitment to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan and global technology leadership.
At the ceremony, Guo Dong, General Manager of Newland AIDC and Chairman of the subsidiary, stated: “This spin-off allows focused investment in AI-integrated chip design, meeting demands from smart logistics and industrial automation.”
“Since developing the world’s first 2D barcode decoding chip in 2010, our team has pursued independent chip R&D. Today’s launch in Hengqin opens a new chapter,” Guo said. Guo outlined plans to implement China’s “Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative” enterprise policy, prioritizing AI-powered machine vision and RFID innovations. “The Pearl River Delta’s electronics supply chain clusters enable rapid prototyping and cost efficiency,” he noted, pledging customer-centric product development. Guo positioned Hengqin as a gateway for global expansion, leveraging its cross-border policies to enhance Newland AIDC’s international competitiveness.
Zhang Sheng, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Office, affirmed: “Hengqin’s financial reforms, including tax incentives for R&D, support high-tech enterprises like Newland UIMG.” He highlighted streamlined customs clearance and intellectual property protection mechanisms as key policy advantages for tech firms. “We target attracting 500+ high-tech enterprises to Hengqin by 2026,” Zhang added, urging the subsidiary to forge global partnerships.
Guo and guests concluded the event by unveiling the company plaque, signaling operational readiness. Attendees recognized the launch as a strategic upgrade to Newland AIDC’s technology portfolio and service capabilities.
The subsidiary will focus on AI-embedded IoT chip R&D, integrating algorithms into hardware design to enhance smart device performance. Leveraging Newland Sci-Tech Group’s resources and Hengqin’s strategic location, it aims to consolidate Newland AIDC’s leadership in the global AIDC industry through advanced semiconductor solutions.
