On May 24, 2024, the Parallel Forum on Digital Economy Investment and Cooperation, part of the China-GCC Countries Forum on Industry and Investment Cooperation, was held in Xiamen. The Forum was attended by Huang Wenhui, Deputy Secretary of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, who delivered a welcome address. Other notable speakers included H.E. Saleh Majid Al-Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Qatar, Li Li, Deputy Director of the Information Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Lu Dongsen, Deputy Director of the Digital Economy Department of the National Data Administration.
The Forum, themed "Harnessing the Multiplier Effect of Data Elements to Accelerate the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," brought together nearly 200 participants, including government officials from China and GCC countries, experts and scholars from research institutions, and representatives from central enterprises and leading digital economy companies, to discuss cooperation and development in the digital economy.

Ding Chaojie, Chief Strategy Officer of Newland Digital Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend and deliver a keynote speech titled "Co-creating a New Space for Digital Citizenship and Advancing New Digital Cooperation between China and the GCC."
In his speech, Ding highlighted Newland's commitment to the digital economy as a leading high-tech enterprise, outlining Newland's development trajectory and achievements. Building upon its expertise in perception & recognition engine development, the Company has consistently advanced technologies such as QR code recognition, image recognition, and facial recognition. It has systematically developed a comprehensive digital ecosystem that integrates algorithms, chips, modules, terminals, software, big data, and artificial intelligence, resulting in Newland's smart POS terminals achieving a global market-leading position. Since entering the GCC market in 2017, Newland's smart POS terminals have gained widespread adoption in countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, due to their exceptional performance and reliable quality. Looking ahead, Newland will continue its efforts to promote the development of a better digital life for residents of GCC countries.
Newland plays a significant role as a contributor, promoter, and participant in the Digital China Summit while also serving as the inaugural chair unit of the e-CNY Industry Alliance. The Company pioneered the "Digital Citizen" concept and initiated a national pilot program in Fuzhou. This concept, Ding explained, represents a person's digital presence in the online world, encompassing three crucial elements: digital identity, data assets, and digital applications. "Newland wishes to construct a dynamic digital world where identity codes, data codes, and payment codes seamlessly integrate," Ding stated. "Our vision is to create an ideal digital living scenario across China and GCC countries, where identity, data, payments, and logistics flow smoothly and efficiently for all citizens."
Digital identity serves as a citizen's identification in the digital world, supported by the national cyber identity authentication public service. It effectively mitigates the risk of sensitive identity information leakage, enhancing citizens' sense of security. Data assets, representing a citizen's core digital assets, require collaborative efforts to convert raw data into usable elements, assets, and securities, eventually boosting citizens' sense of fulfillment. Digital payment, the most frequently used application in the digital world, is further empowered by the digital RMB, a new quality productive force in the construction of Digital China. The combination of digital RMB + smart contracts can minimize credit costs and risks in the digital world, innovatively enhancing citizens' sense of well-being. The concept of a "Digital Student" represents the primary role of a digital citizen during their school years. The Five Blessings Innovation Model (Blessed Certificates, Blessed Currency, Blessed Bags, Blessed Images, Blessed Talents) constructs student growth portfolios through multi-party participation and data collection, offering students digital, personalized, precise, and intelligent services to support their comprehensive development.
Mr. Ding highlighted Newland's active exploration of the development patterns, ecological logic, and driving mechanisms of the digital economy industry, while aiming to establish the production relationships, industry policies, governance mechanisms, and governance systems necessary for a thriving digital economy. Newland is willing to work alongside its partners in China and the GCC to share valuable experiences in digital development, navigate past the previously encountered detours and pitfalls, jointly create a new space for digital citizens, collaboratively advance the great cause of digital cooperation between China and the GCC, and share the opportunities this digital era presents, and ultimately, contribute wisdom and strength towards realizing a community with a shared future for mankind.
